Fall into Your Routine
School is starting again, and the carefree summer vibes are giving way to more structure as fall approaches. Now is the time to establish a routine with your workouts and nutrition. Here are a few of my best tips to help you establish and maintain a routine that works for you!
Make the Most of Your Mornings
One habit I got into when I was in college was working out in the morning before my classes. This set me up for success because I had no excuse not to get it in. If you can, try starting your day with a workout. Depending on how early you’re going to be working out, you may want to have a light snack and some electrolytes, such as a slice of toast with a bit of peanut butter and a banana, or coffee with a little sugar and collagen. That way, your body has some fuel in the tank before you go to work out.
Prepare for Success:
A little prep work goes a long way when it comes to staying on track with your nutrition. I like to make overnight oats with Greek yogurt, chia seeds, and a splash of oat milk for busy mornings, or days when I know I’m going to be constantly on the go. I can diversify that with toppings like nuts and fruit. I’ll also freeze any fruit I might want for smoothies, make my bulk sides like rice, veggies, and potatoes, and make a bunch of protein so I can mix and match as the week goes on.
Create Go-Tos
Let’s be honest, decision fatigue is so real!! That’s why it’s super important to create go-to recipes that you know you enjoy and don’t have to think about too much. One of mine is to take prepped chicken, throw it in with some broccoli, pineapple, and Bachan’s Japanese BBQ sauce to make a delicious meal. The ingredients you choose should be something you have on hand, so that it’s super simple. You can also throw together canned beans, salsa, avocado, and serve it with bell peppers and chips for a complete meal!
Attitude of Gratitude
One thing I’ve been doing recently is consciously writing down what I’m grateful for at night. This practice has caused me to be more present during my day and to make sure that I’m appreciating the good in my life.
